Catching Up

My littlest guy, Jess, finally got his first tooth in last week. Another milestone come and gone.

I finished Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code and absolutely loved it. I also read Angels and Demons and loved that almost as much. I was captivated with both books, being a fan of conspiracy theories and intrigued by religious controversies. Still haven't started on my list of classics, but I figure I'll get there.

It's been really wonderful to read books again. For so long, all the reading I did was purely academic -- mitochondrial DNA, chemical equilibrium, proteins and enzymes -- definitely not the most entertaining topics in the world. It's been a very long time since I had the opportunity to read for pleasure and I've enjoyed it immensely. There is nothing like getting swept away to another time, another place, another life for a few hours.

Anyone tried Vongo? It's the online service that allows you to download movies to your computer. Thought I'd give the free trial a whirl but, so far, am not all that impressed.

I hate George W. Bush.

That is all for now.

That's about what I'm going to get used to in the next few years...biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, probably others I haven't even heard about yet...I think I'm going to miss my book time, too. I'm rereading Lord of the Rings right now, I figured I'd get in a good one before I had to really buckle down for all the new learnin'!

All the biology, chemistry, genetics, and physics reading will make pleasure reading that much more, well, pleasurable when you get back to it in a few years. :)
