"In depression, this faith in deliverance, in ultimate restoration, is absent. The pain is unrelenting, and what makes the condition intolerable is the foreknowledge that no remedy will come - not in a day, an hour, a month, or a minute. If there is mild relief, one knows that it is only temporary; more pain will follow. It is hopelessness even more than pain that crushes the soul.
So the decision-making of daily life involves not, as in normal affairs, shifting from one annoying situation to another less annoying -- or from discomfort to relative comfort, or from boredom to activity -- but moving from pain to pain. One does not abandon, even briefly, one's bed of nails, but is attached to it wherever one goes."
~ William Styron
a pissed optimist
I am an eternal optimist - always have been and I hope to God that I always will be. However, from time to time, I am simply overcome with anger and sadness and bitterness because of the state of our world, the destruction of life, and the apathy of mankind. Hence, my occasional rants.
Here, you will find strong opinions, passionate pleas, helpless rants, and caustic bitterness mixed in with a big ol' bag o' hopeful optimism. You don't have to agree with or like what you read here, but you are welcome to rant along with me, share your own opinions, initiate a debate, explore new ideas, put forth questions to ponder, or simply begin a conversation. Feel free to share your own shit or keep it to yourself, it's no matter to me.

The desultory detritus in which she was clad left many to conclude that she did not suffer from simple stark staring sanity.

Wow, anonymous. I've read your post time and time again and am still not sure what it says. You are GOOD!
des·ul·to·ry (dsl-tr, -tr, dz-) adj.
1. Moving or jumping from one thing to another; disconnected: a desultory speech.
2. Occurring haphazardly; random.
So, as anonymous said...
The disconnected disintegrated debris in which she was sheathed affirmed her sheer derangement.
